As a highly skilled technician we will assess which method is best suited to your needs.
As a carpet cleaning technician I can remove moderate or heavy staining from your rugs, albeit an old or new stain. What's more we also give you a guaranteed and completely thorough cost effective service. We can clean rugs either at your property or at one of my special facilities in Hobart (subject to availability). Further more, if you’re not satisfied with my work, I will re-clean free of charge. How many rug cleaning companies in Hobart can offer you that?
Upon arrival, the technician inspects the fabric of the rug and, if needed, conduct a fibre identification test. I may also measure the pH of the rug’s fabric to decide which chemicals will be best for the cleaning.
The technician will also inspect the fabric for damage, scuffs, marks, particular stains, and colour fastness (also known as colour bleeding).
Depending on the condition and type of fibres present in your rug, the technician will have four options:
Dry cleaning can be done on any type of rug; however, it is compulsory for certain silk variants, sisal, seagrass, jute, coir, viscose and plant fibre or pulp-based rugs.
Subsequently some rugs are dry clean only, which means that they can only be cleaned with a dry cleaning compound or powder. Liquids spilt on these types of rugs can be absorbed by its fibres, permanently damaging the rug.
In cases such as this, our technician will make you aware that the rug is dry clean only and identify any stains that may not be fully removable due to fibre damage.
If there are no stains, or if you agree to have the rug cleaned despite the existing damage, the technician will use a dry powder that is then agitated into the rug’s fibres. The powder will absorb any dirt, allergens and bacteria from the rug’s fibres.
The technician then professionally hoovers the rug to extract the powder and any dirt residue.
Instead, we have calculated our prices according to the size of the rug you need to clean. It is best if you call us direct to assess the type and the condition of the carpets which require cleaning at your property.
Some rugs, particularly wool, linen, or a mix of these two fibres, can either be dry cleaned or cold water extraction cleaned. The advantage of Cold water extraction is the more effective removal of spots and stains.
Cold water extraction uses water (up to 30 degrees celsius) coupled with Wool safe - approved chemicals. They are added to the cleaning machine’s tank, which in turn injects them into the rug’s fibres. The water, along with the chemicals and all the dirt, bacteria, larvae and allergens is then vacuumed out of the rug’s fabric.
It’s important to note that at 30 degrees, some bacteria and allergens may survive the cold water extraction process, but these fabrics are likely to be damaged if a higher temperature is used, so this process is effective on specific bacteria and allergens.
Also, wool and linen rugs present particular problems:
Firstly, wool attracts moths, so there could be existing physical damage on the rug’s fabric. Such damage needs to be repaired, not cleaned. If you are familiar with such areas on the rug, please make the technician aware of it; in turn, if the technician identifies such issues on the rug, he will make you aware of it.
Secondly, there might be some colour running from the rug’s fabric, especially if it has been home-dyed. If so, the technician will also do a colour fastness test before cleaning the rug to help avoid such issues.
Lastly, this is the most effective cleaning method available today. Indeed, the technician will use a wide range of chemicals, coupled with hot boiling water in the machine’s tank. The machine will inject the water and also chemicals into the fibres of the rug, and it will immediately rinse it out afterwards, along with the dirt, allergens and bacteria.
Chiefly, the use of steam and the wand attachment on the vacuum are what make this deep steam clean successful.
Hot water extraction method can be used on cotton and on any synthetic / artificial fibre.
I suggest that you share clear photos of the rug and also any labels during the scheduling process to help me identify the fabric so as I can advise which cleaning method will best suit your rug.
