While you can take care of the non-upholstered furniture yourself, I highly recommend you to hire a professionally trained technician such as myself for your upholstered items. As a professional I will do the best possible job for any type of fabric, while leaving them clean, fresh, and allergen-free. I use the most effective methods on the market to date, utilising modern equipment, techniques and chemicals.

For upholstered furniture, I use four different types of cleaning methods: foam, dry, cold water, and how water extraction (also known as steam cleaning). The preferred method is the hot water extraction service which injects hot water, steam and chemicals into the fabric of your upholstery item, and then it immediately extracts it along with the dirt, residues and allergens from its fibres.

This leaves the best results possible, and it is the latest technique available on the market today depending on the fabric which your items are upholstered in, I may decide on the day of your booking which technique to use. Regardless of the method used, the result will be a thoroughly, professionally cleaned upholstery for you to use.

How I Clean Upholstery

There are four methods to clean upholstered items: foam, dry, with cold water extraction, or with hot water extraction (this is also known as steam cleaning).

The type of fabric your item is upholstered in, its age, soiling condition, and the last date when it has been professionally cleaned will determine the most suitable cleaning method to employ. Thorough hoovering of the fabric is a mandatory step: I use a high pressure hoover fitted on our machines which will get rid of loose dirt and dust from the fabric of your upholstery.

If the fabric is dry clean only, I use foam or a dry compound on it, I then agitate it to make sure it get ingrained into the fibres, and then we hoover it back along with the dirt which gets attracted into it. If the fabric is cleanable with water, we use large, industrial machines to inject water along with chemicals into the fibres of the upholstery item.

If the fabric is wool or linen, I will use Woolsafe-approved chemicals and water at up to 30 degrees Celsius; if, however, the fabric is synthetic or cotton, I will use hot water and steam along with different types of chemicals for different types of fabrics. So the fabric of your upholstery will ultimately determine the cleaning method, chemicals, machines and techniques to use.

My Deodorising Service

There are two types of deodorising which I can do.

The first one involves using additional chemicals to refresh and deodorise any upholstery item you may have. This is included into each upholstery cleaning service you book with me.

The second type of deodorising service involves eliminating and dealing with odd smells on any given upholstery items. It does not have to be booked with the actual upholstery cleaning service, and it is designed for properties where there are strong smells of smoke, cooking smells, raw water and other similar odours.

Protecting Your Upholstery Items

You can protect the fabric of your upholstery items when booking a stain protector service with us. This means that apart from deep cleaning and deodorising the fabric, I will add one extra step to the service. It involves using a stain protector chemical on the upholstery item, so that it will create a protective layer on it.

The protective layer will prevent liquids from going deeper into the fabric of your upholstery. In other words, if you happen to make a stain on the upholstery, its protective layer will keep the stain at the top, preventing it from going deeper into the fabric. This means that the fabric will be easier to spot clean and to fully clean.

Maintaining The Look Of Your Furniture

You can see a great return on your investment if you book a regular upholstery cleaning service with me. This will greatly extend the lifespan of you upholstery fabric because the longer any fabric stays untreated, the longer the chances for it will be to degrade at a faster rate than normal.

You can help prevent that by regularly vacuuming each upholstery item you have, as well as booking a professional upholstery cleaning service with me, preferably once every three or six months.
